SANTO DOMINGO - REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA/ DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

  Depois de finalizar a primeira e principal etapa da nossa viagem para o Haiti chegou a hora de tirarmos alguns dias para viajar. E já que estavamos tão perto, decidimos ir para a Republica Dominicana, um país famoso pelas suas belezas naturais e sua história. 

  A primeira etapa dessa aventura foi decidir qual seria o melhor meio de transporte para nos levar até lá. Por ser bem mais barato escolhemos ir de ônibus. (Pagamos US$75,00 por pessoa por uma passagem de ida e volta na Caribe Tours).

  Levamos 3 horas para chegar na fronteira do Haiti com a RD. Já na fronteira ficamos quase 2 horas. Uma hora para sair do Haiti e outra para entrar na RD.

  Terminando o processo na fronteira, seguimos viagem. Desde a fronteira até Santo Domingo foram mais 4 horas de viagem. Total de 9 hrs de viagem ficamos muito cansados, mas como era dia 31, aproveitamos pra curtir a virada em Santo Domingo mesmo assim! Ao todo passamos 2 dias turistando em Santo Domingo. 

  Nos hospedamos na Zona Colonial  de SD (patrimônio da UNESCO), onde se encontram os principais pontos turísticos da cidade. Achamos muito charmoso e seguro, muitos turistas, policiais, uma área bem cuidada!

 Santo Domingo foi o primeiro assentamento europeu e a primeira sede do Governo Colonial Espanhol na America. Te convidamos a conferir algumas fotos desta linda cidade a seguir:

  After finalizing the first and main part of our trip to Haiti, it is time to take some days to travel around. And once we were so close, , we decided to go to Dominican Republic a country known by its natural beauty and history,

  The first step of our adventure was to decide what would be the best way to get there. When I say best way, I mean the cheapest one!! So then, we decided to go by bus!! (We paid US$75,00 per person for a round-trip ticket at Caribe Tours). 

  The bus took 3 hours to get in the border of Haiti with Dominican Republic (DR). Once we were there, it took us 2 more hours to finish all process in the immigration (one hour to leave Haiti and one more hour to enter in DR).

After that, the bus could keep following its way, From the border to Santo Domingo (SD) the bus took 4 hours. Totally, it was 9 hours from Port-Au-Prince to SD. We got very tired in the end, but how it was the last day of the year, we preferred to keep awake to enjoy the New Year arrival in SD!! Totally we spent two days visiting SD. 

  We stayed in a hotel at the Colonial Area of SD (UNESCO property), all of the main city attractions are located there. This is a very charming and safe area, with a lot of tourists and cops!! 

  Santo Domingo was the first European village and the first Spanish headquarters in the American continent. We invite you to check some pictures of this beautiful city below:

Os restaurantes e bares quase todos com mesinhas ao ar livre. Tudo muito charmoso! (Bars and restaurants with out-side tables. So charming!!)

  Enfim, adoramos a cidade de Santo Domingo, vale muito a pena conhecê-la, principalmente pela sua importância histórica e cultural. Os preços aqui são baixos (adoramos isto hehe) hotéis, taxi e restaurantes são bem em conta , melhor ainda se vc chegar falando espanhol. Outro ponto positivo é que em todos os lugares aceitam dolar americano. Quando for prefira se hospedar na Zona Colonial, poderá conhecer quase todos os pontos turísticos caminhando!

  Finally, we loved to know SD, it was so worthy, we strongly recommend. The cost to stay here is not high (we loved this...), hotels, taxis and restaurants definitively fits everybody's budget. And if you you know how to speak Spanish, you can get more discounts!! Another positive point is that american dollar is accepted everywhere. When you visit SD, we recommend that you prefer to stay in the Colonial Area, because you can visit the main city's attraction only by walking!
